Convertable Top Dash Light

I have been having typical top problems with my 99 Boxster's Top Mechanism. I have actually broken 2 of the cast aluminum arms. I have checked all the microswitches and have synchronized the top motors. My main question is - what makes the dash light for the top go out. The top normally open or closes then right at the point of finishing opening or closing, the motors start to slow down and if I keep pushing the button the dash light eventually goes out but the last time I did this I broke another arm. Any advice?? Thank you, JMP

There is a pressure switch located just above the motor. This actuates the dash light. It's rather large (1/4 inch wide and 1 1/2 inch long) and black. You can't miss it.

I would imagine that it's gone out. It should be easy to replace and not cost much if you buy it from Sunset Imports in Oregon.

Top Dash Light

Dear Sir, thank you for your reply but I have test the clamshell micro switch and it tests ok. I even put a small piece of rubber on the clamshell where it contacts the switch to make sure that it is pushing it down and it definately is. The B - Pillar micro switch also tests ok as does the top latch switch. I have taken the control module out and cleaned the contacts and "tapped" it like has been described in other forums but nothing will turn the dash light off. I am at my wits end. Do you think I might have a bad control module?? Thank you very much, Jerry
