Question for Jake

Jake,

Could you explain how the IMS bearing, bearing cap/cover and intermediate shaft interconnect with each other? Secondly, what is the purpose of the slotted stud and locknut through the bearing cover? I am having a difficult time visualizing how it all comes together while viewing the limited pictures available on the various boards.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

The assembly video shown in this link should address your question.

There are also diagrams of the assembly in the parts catalogs and cutaway view through google image search.
