car died..wont start

ALOHA everyone!

my neighbor has a 02 boxster. she was driving home the other day and the car just suddenly died and all the lights on the dash just lit up. she did not report any funky noises or smoke coming from anywhere. tow driver(my friend) didn't mention anything about oil on the ground either from where it was towed.

my initial guess is something may be wrong with the cars computer. i'll be honest, i dont know anything about porsche cars to say the least, hence why im here. but i tried to stick my OBDll reader that i use on my bmw to see what codes were given. it just says error.

anyone with similar issues or known fixes? hopefully its nothing serious and just needs to be reset or something. but in the mean time i'll check the usuals, like fuses and stuff. thanks in advance for all your time!

MAHALO!

***EDIT***...she did not mention if the car would try to crank or just not do anything. she just told me it died and wont start with the lights on the dash coming on. so i guess a response for either one or both would be great :-)

I think you aren't getting much feedback because there's not much in your post to go on other then by responding - check "fuel, spark, and air." I doubt you'll be pulling plugs to check for spark...so

Have your neighbor take it to the dealer.

A similar thing happened to me, and it was my alternator. The dash lights lit up and it died. Find out if it is trying to turn over, if not, start there.
