Installed front and read (mid) strut brace today.. question
 

The rear brace was difficult to get in because of the angle. I finally got it installedbut the directions say not to over tighten the tension. It was already pretty tight and I couldn't adjust the bar. How do I know what is too tight?
I took it on a test drive and took a hard corner here and there and all seemed well at least.

What I did was loosen it as much as I could and still have the ability to install it on the car, installed the bar and tightened it until I couldn't move it around anymore. I felt a considerable difference in the stiffness of the chassis. No more creaks.

Which braces are you guys installing?

I installed a set from Schnell.

Do these braces fit under or above the cover for the battery in the front?
Do you have any pics of the install you would like to share?

It goes under all three covers (remove these w/ screwdriver) and behind the actual battery. Really simple installation, maybe 15 min. for the front bar, 30 for the rear.

If you still want pics I can take a few. The rear brace was a ********************, it seemed like it didn't want to fit. Space is a premium where it fits but once its installed the benefits are worth the time. The front one seemed a little too fat but it did fit. Word to the wise...loosen the battery mount first.

Sounds like something else to add to the Christmas list.

fyi, seems like there's some interest in these.

I placed an order for a rear and front Schnell brace couple days ago from an ebay seller (Vertex Automotive) and he had the option to "Submit Best Offer". I low-balled my offers on both braces AND an HID conversion kit and lo and behold, i checked my email the next morning to discover all 3 auctions had been WON!

so fyi, if you see this one, submit an offer and you just might get a great deal on these braces.

Do these strut braces really make a noticeable difference on our cars which have already equipped with enough bracings out of the factory?

Wouldn't swaybars be a more cost effective mod to sharpen up the handling?

I bought a pair off ebay for 110. they were from a car being dismantled. Havnet but them on yet but have put strut braces on other cars i have owned and they did stiffen the ride and less flexing.
