OBD II Reader
My Check Engine light just came on. I have an OBD II that I use
on my other (US) cars and wondered if this will work on the Box. Just dying to know what tripped the CEL. It's always better to go to the dealer well armed with info to minimize expense and down time. And yes, my gas tank cap and oil cap are both tight as can be. The CEL came on while I was driving. BTW, are the CEL mileage-driven to have you bring the car to dealer for service? I just reached 64,700 miles on my odometer. |
The light is not related to service intervals. See if your code reader works.
|
Correct, the light does not trip due to mileage.

Sentinel,
My CEL came on (2000 Box with 66,OOO) while driving recently. My caps are tight as well and so far the car is running normally. I had Autozone check my codes and it was P1130 - Fuel Air Metering. They cleared the code and so far ir hasn't reappeared. I haven't driven the car much since the code has been cleared. My guess is it will probably reappear once I drive it some. Let us know what code(s) you find. Anyone have any advice on my code? I've been too busy to have it checked further or to have a look myself. Thanks, ddb |
Where is the OBDII port on the 986?
|
Under the dash to the left of the steering column.

Got a P1128, "O2S Range 2 Cyl. 1-3" .
I cleared it but, I too have a feeling it'll pop up again. Now to bug my Porsche mechanic on what this code meant. ddb, Our codes are close. The ODB website narrowed your code to "O2S Range 2 Cyl. 4-6" |
Sentinel,
Thanks for the information. Let me know if you get yours resolved soon or find out any specifics from your mechanic. I will do the same. Thanks, ddb |
RENNTECH.org forums are a good place for free, fast, accurate advice on your codes.
