stiff gas pedal any ideas?

I have a 99 with a cable gas pedal and it is really stiff, I am wondering if anybody knows if there is a spring on the throttle body on the engine that I can remove to make the gas pedal any easier or any other solution?

Please help!

I have an '02 Base and mine is the same way.
