resonance at 200rpm
If I accelerate say in 2nd or 3rd gear and then back off the gas there seems to be a resonance zone as the revs go down thru 2800rpm, is this a normal feature ?

Do you have a after market exhaust??
|
Search all P. forums for 3k rpm vibration.
I have this problem too and have tried all recommendations to get rid of it without success. (motormount, muffler support , new flywheel etc) Seems like its a built in failure as the shops dont know what to do. But they all says its harmless. Just irritating |
My 2001 S with 10,000 miles does not have this issue. Perhaps it's a function of mileage and something that eventually shows up. I tried to replicate the issue but couldn't.

yeah maybe a function of mileage, its not exhaust related, it just feels like a mechanical resonance its only apparent for a second or so in a narrow rev range around 2800rpm and only does as it decellerates.

Do your cars have Vario Cam?
http://986forum.com/forums/attachmen...tid=9633&stc=1 Variable valve timing system Porsche (VARIO CAM) Advancing the inlet camshaft by means of two sliding chain tensioners, which can be moved to and from via magneto-hydraulic actuation. The exhaust camshaft is driven by the crankshaft. The inlet camshaft is driven by the outlet camshaft via a chain. Could the resonance your talking about being caused by the cams retarding? |
