As far as the Worldpac classes, the one this weekend is likely the very last one for the M96. WTI adopted my DFI and Cayenne engine classes and now that we've done the M96 class for 32 years, they are likely to abandon it. If the class is abandoned by WTI, I will still host the class with Tony Callas and may travel to do the classes just like with WTI- Just on my own. I have several new hands on classes at my new training facility, to include enthusiast level classes. |

I see no one has chimed in since 2014 so thought I would give a bump. My 3.6 Raby build now has about 800 miles on it and she is running flawless. We haven't really done any tuning yet as Jake's chassis dyno took a crap . So I have been logging miles and the ECU is " learning " as we go. Sometime around the end of April we will go back to Jake's and drop the car off. Dyno tuning will take place and Jake will get her really dialed in. But the car is just a blast to drive. She pulls like a freight train from idle to 7k with little effort. I'm running a GHL twin can muffler which is too loud and does have drone but man does she howl above 3500 !!! The sound is awesome. I will keep the muffler but will tone her down with some resonators installed in the cat delete pipes. I am looking forward to getting her on a AX course in a few weeks just to ring her out a little :D . I am following Jakes advice on oil changes and oil analysis. I am confident she will be running for a very long time with many smiles per mile ;)

I had my IMS and clutch done recently and was going to send it to Jake but with being in Canada and the dollar the way it is it would have been very expensive so opted to have it done at an authorized IMS installer in Vancouver. Next big job will hopefully be Jake boring my baby out. Can't wait :D |

My Raby perf upgrade 3.6 now has 30k miles or so. I have added the full Fabspeed exhaust system from engine back. Plus I have the final solution now rather than the original IMS bearing upgrade. I did take the lightweight flywheel out, only because of the racket. I may have lost a bit of throttle response but the exhaust More than made up for anything that might have been lost. I have had zero problems other than the transmission. I lost 2nd and reverse but that had nothing to do with the engine. My indy rebuilt the whole transmission replacing any parts that showed the least bit of wear. I had him replace the Lw flywheel at the time. It wasn't cheap but nothing worthwhile ever is. The car runs as good or better than ever. I have slowed down putting miles on the car but only because I am driving a 996 tip to Work. 35 miles each way in atlanta traffic kept my leg worn out. I still Love the car and I Still think it has More umph than any stock 987. I havent driven the new 4 banger turbos so have no opinion. I have a lot of money tied up in a car that is worth very little but it doesn't matter as I have no reason to sell it ever really. I know jake is building some monster Motors now at 4.0 Maybe even 4.2, but the weight of the 986 coupled with the power and reliability of Jakes Motor has kept me satisfied for I think it s been 7 years. I have other cars, but when I want tongo For a fun ride I always choose the 986. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Thanks for the information..

3.8L on the way
My F6I 3.8L Street Performer+ upgrade (with ECU tune) is approaching (fall 2020 at Jake’s facility). No issues with my current 3.2 but I’m looking forward to having a really special car combining the 3.8 with my 2004 550SE. In preparation I’ve upgraded the suspension, made some minor exterior cosmetic changes and refreshed the interior (in progress now).
Coming from a Jaguar XKR (heavy touring GT) I’m looking forward to the hp/torque bump in a much more driver focused car. I’ll still miss that supercharger whine, but the flat six song with the muscle to back it up in a tuned chassis lightweight will make the Jag a distant, yet fond, memory. |

My wife still misses the 99 XJR we bought in 2004 |

I’m currently running a FVD Brombacher muffler with secondary cat deletes but I kept the primary cats on the headers (NYS emissions requirements). In the future I plan to try to move to 200 cell header cats and keep OBD emissions compliance. Need to let that 3.8 breathe! I’ll need a new tune at that point. Should be ok on the intake side because I have the 987 air box, etc. I kick myself regularly for selling the XKR. It was a 2005 coupe with the very rare competition suspension package (I kid you not) and it was in perfect condition. I hope it’s still alive and well. |
