1000 HP Ford Gt

August 19, 2008 Packing over 1000

horsepowerhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower after its GT1000 twin turbo upgrade, and with an eye-watering measured top speed of 235.4mph (378kph) that it can reach in less than 2 miles of straight road, this 2005 Ford GT has been given the full treatment by the high-velocityhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velocity tuning gods at Hennessey Performance Engineering. Now it's up for sale on eBay - for the price of a small house.

Numbers like 1000 horsepower and 865 foot-pounds of torque don't come cheaply, but then unique 230mph American made roadsters don't come up on eBay all that often either. The Hennessey Ford GT features twin Garrett ball bearinghttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_bearing turbos and a stack of custom work to bring the boost up to 18.5psi. Road and dyno tested, and featured in Cycle World and Road and Trackhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_%26amp%3B_Track magazines, this fire-breather is up for grabs on eBay from a starting price of US$229,500, ending August 27.

Not a bad deal, actually, considering a Bugatti Veyron will cost you more than 6 times that figure...

As soon as I saw the title of this post one word came to my mind, "Hennessey". Those guys are nuts and will boost just about anything that rolls. Car and Driver regularly reviews their work. They just competed in the One Lap of America in a Dodge Viper ACR and I'm sure they do Vettes too, so it's no surprise they would work over a Ford....

I always loved the way the GT40 looks, right back to the original race cars.

When depreciation takes its toll, perhaps I will look into buying one of these bad boys (not the 1000 HP version).
