HELP ASAP!! Convertible Top Stuck Down Position ???????

Hello board,

My convertible top is stuck in down position due to having removed hard top.

After pulling the relay off and putting it back in, "convertible top warning light" goes off. then I press the "close top" button and "convertible top warning light" comes back on. It seems to reset itself when I replace the relay but when I press the "close top" button I can hear the "warning beeping sound" and can hear and feel motors working but nothing happens!

What funny is the clamshell is not locked down. I can manually lift it up but the soft top stays down (I dont want to force the soft top to close)

Anything else I should try?

Can I do 60K service with the top down? How much can I get done?

Please include references even pics will be helpful.

The motors seem to be working but nothing happens as if it is disconnected, if that makes sence.

Thanks so much for your help.

Sounds to me like your transmission (top transmission) cables have failed. These are encased in a vinyl sleeve which shrinks and pulls the actual cable out of the transmission recepticle.

You can sometimes force the sleeve back so you can get the cable to engage, but sometimes, you need to replace the cable. If replacing, you'll need to manually operate the top to access them and then need to synchronize both sides so they operate in tandom.
