Pedros PSE mod done!
Thanks to blueillusion, I finally have the Pedros PSE mod done to my boxster!!!
It sounds so good. The growl is something else, I LOVE how in the city streets its got a nice aggressive growl and then i can barely notice the sound from the exhaust on the freeway ride home so i dont get a headache! I have to find a way to record the sound and post it. |
Way to go CJ ... can't wait to hear it if you can get some audio going.
Any chance of some pics? |
Congratulations!
Glad you're happy with the hack. Post some pics. What diameter pipes did you use? Here's my recording: http://www.pedrosgarage.com/0-125.mp3 Zero to 125 mph. Happy Boxstering, Pedro |
THAT ... is the sweetest sound i've ever heard. Thanks for the recording ... all I had to do was close my eyes and imagine what it is going to sound like next weekend. Damn, I can't wait.

Is that sound clip of a 2.5L, 2.7L or 3.2L?
|
Thanx for the credit CJ! I think we should make a video at the 11th meet. We can include both cars, what do you think?

Cj, do you have an cabin resonance between 2-3k rpm?
My twin-chamber muffler is only annoying when the top is up. Have you driven it with the top up and the windows up and down to see if you get that nasty cabin howl that produces a dull headache? I gotta do this to my old muffler now and see if it sounds as good as Che's. My only concern is the extra 20 lbs on the tail and the pizza oven effect back in the rear trunk. |
Hey guys, Heres a clip of my boxster with PSE (Pedro Sport Exhuast) recorded this weekend.
http://videos.pcars.us/video/5016146f-9c79-4d83-9557-9ab40161fbfb.htm I do have alittle cabin resonance between 2-3.5 rpms but only gears 1-3 and once im in 4th and 5th i cant hear much... I like it cause on the freeways, i dont hear it at all so i dont get a headache! :) |
Damm that sounds nice. Just like the real PSE too.
|
Man i wonder how a 3.2 sounds with a PSE, that first clip sounds like a bike! i love it.

Carlos,
The car sounds great. I went the other way, I had straight pipes and then went with pedros hack. When you do the straight pipes keep your pedro hacked muffler in case you change your mind. Gary |

Gary, do you have the by-pass system installed on your car now? If so, did you just go with open pipes or did you install a valve of some kind? Curious... |

Ok heres another clip we recorded yesterday when the exhaust was cold.... Still, doesnt really sound like this in person... could be the camera sound quality since we used a regular digital camera with video feature or the position of the camera man, Sounds alot better in person than in this new video. Sounds like the mic on the cam is getting distortion. I dont know lol but take a look even though its not flattering

I am going to go with the by pass system. I have had AOS issues along with working on the suspension, so the sound has been on hold for a few more weeks. |
These sound clips never reproduce the sound correctly. You've got to hear these exhaust systems live on the same type of car that you have. Maybe it's just me but it makes the engine sound like a motorcycle engine.

Pedro PSE done
Did the mod in my home shop in about 3 hours from start to finish. Love the new sound. My wife says it is too loud but she can continue to ride in her Mercedes. Everyone else that has heard it loves it also. No gain in hp though but who cares it sounds like it is 100hp better.

Tube Size?
CJ and Mmontfort: What diameter tube did you use? 1-1/4 or 1-1/2?
Thanks |
