What bolt ons to achieve 240 crank HP on my 2.5

I have read a lot of threads today about modifications, and all, and there seems to be a lot of argument on just how much power you can get out of a stock 2.5 without forced induction.

I currently have a late 99 that I just put a new engine in. I have got slotted and drilled rotors and ceramic pads. Currently I am working on suspension, but when I am done I would like to get the most out of the engine that I can... Relaibly of course.

I have looked into a supercharger kit that claims increased of 80 horsepower at 4.5psi, for the great price of $6,500. But if I can get 40 more horsepower for a good bit less than that, I would be very content. After all the car is quite amazing the way it is, and I do not want to have to replace the motor thanks to this supercharger kit.. however I am curious to see anyones opinion on this kit by imagine auto.

I have read that someone got about 40 more horsepower from intake, exhaust mods, porting the TB, and gettin the ECU re mapped, but what intake does everone here prefer, which exhaust set up is good? How the heck do I port this TB, and where do I get the ECU remapped without taking out a second mortgage for all of the above?

No bolt ons needed:

1) Sell your car
2) Add the $6,500 to the kitty
3) Then buy an "S"

:)

What part of Louisiana are you in??

I have a twin turbo 2.5 and would be willing to take you for a ride.
I live in Baton Rouge but am weekly anywhere from Amite to Lafayette.

I also had a iA supercharger on this car.

Let me know if you are interested.

I got about 245-250 crank hp on my 2.7 with intake, headers and muffler. I have a 2000 with 23,000 miles. Dynoed at 209HP and 172TQ.

You'll spend a fortune getting to 240 hp on that 2.5L unless you get this!!

Anyone try NOS.......Yet??

Gary, I really think you should do it.

You could have the world's first turbocharged and sprayed boxster.

I bet you'd get a feature article in Excellence if it didn't blow up the car.

I am so ready to see some one juice up their Boxster! I've been pushing that for a while now!

Just imagine, a simple 50 shot or something... If the engines can handle superchargers and twin-turbos, what's a little bit of combustion enhancing air gonna hurt?

You would think someone out there with a boxster has done it, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it yet. Gary could be the first! Mmmm...I wonder how long that engine would hold together with spray and boost though:eek: Just a nice 50 shot like Jeff said should be entertaining and relaible on a 2.5L or 2.7L and maybe a 75 shot for a 3.2L.

I get about 203 hp at the wheels with my 2000 2.7L boxster. I added a chip, intake and full exhaust system to pick up the additional 25 hp or so over stock. It was very expensive proposition. I agree with the strategy of selling the car and putting the money for mods into a 3.2L based car, have fun,

Ed

As Boxster prices come down, we're bound to have some of these young whipper-snappers do some kind of nitrous action. I look forward to the results.
