Rear toe rods
 

I need some info. I'm looking at buying a 2005 Boxster S.
The maintenance history states
that the rear toe rods have been replaced because they were bent. I don't know much about these cars but I don't like the sound of bent suspension parts.

Replaced suspension parts due to being bent smells of someone slamming the rear of that car upside a curb...

Walk away from this car for what you don't know about it and what you may not be able to find out no matter how hard you dig.

There's a couple hundred quality examples of 05 987S's out there at any one time and you should find one that has a repair record that is bent-part replacement-free.

With the placement of the tie-rod on the rear suspension, to bend it, would require an impact from front of the wheel to bend it... anything from the rear like backing into to a curb would technically pull on the arm and not cause it to bent but break or stretch...but we know it wont stretch.

They probably ran over something on the freeway like a long 4x4 peice of wood or jacked up the car from the rear toe links instead of the jacking points.

Seller says it was the tow hooks, maintenance history states "toe-rods" (no such thing). There's also a 4-wheel alignment on the report. I'm guessing it was tie-rods.

Well if he confused the rear tie-rods for tow hooks and had the car pulled up onto a flatbed by the tie-rods and that would surely bend them

Also, there are no tow hooks on the rear of the car and the front as well... the tow hook comes in the Porsche tool kit and you have you pop-off the cap from your front bumper and screw the tow-hook into it.... like the picture below shows.

They have several names like Tie rods, Tie Rod Links and Toe Arms

Honestly I don't think this car has rear tie rods. Tie rods are typically associated with steering. There may be some rear linkages.... My guess is it was towed at some point and the car was lashed to the deck incorrectly. I'm still going to look at the car.

Your right in assuming the rear doesnt have "Tie" rods cause thats the term used to discribe the tie rod links on the front which adjusts the "Toe" of the front tires but the rear does have Toe-Links to adjust toe as well.
