Spoiler control question
Heres an odd question...
When I purchased my car, I asked if there was a way to manually make the spoiler go up and down, it seemed like there should be a way to do it. The dealership told me "there should be a button right here" (pointed to where it should be on the drivers side floor board area) then "This car isn't equipped with the switch, its an option." Is that really an extra option or was he speaking out of his, excuse me, ass? If it is extra, can I buy that switch anywhere? |
From my understanding, it should be standard. It was there on the two Boxsters that I've owned. I even routed the switch to one of the blanks on the dash.

All 986s have a spoiler switch where the fuse box is. If you do not see the switch and just a square empty hole it is because someone hit the switch with a foot and the switch fell inside the fuse box.
Some people have installed a spoiler switch in one of the blank spaces to the left of the radio. The switch is from the turbo. It was never an option on the Boxster. |
Yeah, there is just a square hole. So you are saying the switch is probably in there and I have to go get it?
|
It's in there. Remove the fuse panel and snap the swith back into place.
One of the mechanics I know got tired of it, so he would epoxy the switch in place. Or, simply don't hit the switch with your foot.... |
Yeah if all you see if a rectangle hole, the switch was accidentally pushed in, you have to remove the screws of the fuse box cover with a phillips screw driver and you'll feel the switch laying in there, just push it back into the rectangle hole and it'll snap back in.

Cool, will do!
HB. From my understanding, it should be standard. It was there on the two Boxsters that I've owned. I even routed the switch to one of the blanks on the dash. I think I am going to do that, sounds like a great idea. |
You can read the instructions here

What sucks here is the jerk of a salesperson who pulled the wool over your eyes. They should have repaired that before you drove it off the lot.
Sorry bro... But I like the rerouting idea.. Hmmm... Like it a lot... |
