Rear drop link replacement
I'm trying to replace my rear drop links and I am having trouble removing the top of the link from the strut carrier. After removing the nut is the link supposed to just pull out of the bolt hole? I suspect it is and mine are frozen- just like everything else that is attached to that hunk of aluminum. I haven't tried too much heat yet because of the brake lines and ABS wiring that is close by.
As always, any advice is appreciated. Regards, mike |
Assuming you have the car up on jackstands and the wheel is off, I would spray the bolt liberally with penetrating oil (i.e. not WD-40). Something along the lines of P'Blaster, Kroil, or something similar.
After a few applications of that, a few taps using a drift and a hammer of decent mass should pop it right off. I typically use a large punch, but a 3/8" drive ratchet extention should work as well. Wear safety glasses. |
