I can't find an answer about tires...

I know, it's been beaten to death...

I have a 2000 Boxster with stock 17"s. 205/50/17 (front) & 255/40/17 (rear).

I've decided, like others, to put the Michelin PS2's on... but the front has to be 225/45/17 since they do not have the original size.
Will this impact my speedometer etc? Is that a stupid question?

Is this a good or bad move? I don't drive that aggressive.

Any help would be appreciated... I'd like to get these ordered soon.

Thanks.

I found this on another site... but it would still be nice if someone here could give me their personal experience...

"The outter diameter is the same so you should be fine"

I had that exact setup on my car prior to getting rid of the 17" wheels. The PS2 in a 225/45/17 will fit just fine and should have a very minor inpack on the speedometer. The sidwall height of the 225 will be slightly less than the stock 205 but over all as you stated the diameter will be the same.

225/45/17 and 255/40/17 is a great setup on the stock 17" wheels. Go for it.

Rear Wheel is what affects the Speedo/Odo, so the front should not make a difference so far as that is concerned. You will notice a difference in handling/steering going from a 205 to a 225 though not much of one.

You will be fine... I run 235/40-18 in the front... that specific size isn't anywhere in the 986 literature, but at worst you could mess up your speedo, change your abs and psm settings, and thats it... :o

I really appreciate the help guys!
I've solidified my choice! That's why I love this forum/site!
Thanks.
