03-04 S exhaust on 00-02 S car?
Last I knew, all the exhausts for the 2.7 and 3.2 liter cars used the same mounting points and plumbing, so this should not be a problem. I know the 2.5 liter exhausts are different.
Can anyone confirm this, as I've found an 04 S exhaust that I'd like to swap onto my 02 S? Patrick |
The 2003-2004 muffler mounts like a 2000-2002 muffler.
When I have asked in the past why people want to do this, they say because a 2003-2004 muffler sounds better than a 2000-2002 muffler. I have not noticed any sound difference, but maybe it is me. The only change I noticed is that the 2003-2004 muffler has a removeable tip, so Porsche did not have to stock 2 mufflers. |
Only reason I want to do this is because I currently have the FabSpeed exhaust on my car and been driving me nuts for months, I also no longer have my stock muffler (I do have my secondary cats). I have found an 04 muffler that I'd like to put back on the car, along with the secondary cats, and swap out my stock headers for a set of catless headers. I think this will be the final solution in my case.

The 2003+ muffler is definitely different. It's throatier at idle and just off idle. Very noticable difference.
You can duplicate the sound pretty easily on a 2000-2002 muffler, however. And yes, they bolt up. |
