Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve needs replacement?

Hello,I just took my car to the shop because I noticed a little bit of fluid leaking at the bottom of it after storing it in the garage for about a week. However, the leak has stopped since then.

When I took it to the dealer (German Auto World in Aventura, FL) (Which, btw was very unprofessional and rude) they said that I needed to change my positive crank case ventilation valve.

The guy said that the work would cost:

1,181.50 dollars.

He also said that that I needed a new fluid filter, and that would cost

221.00

Is this usually how much it costs to change this ventilation valve?

He said if I didnt change it oil would leak all over my engine and mess it up.

What are the chances that my problem could be the Ventilation Valve?

I plan on getting a new oil change, would that help the problem out at all?

What do you guys think? Thanks

How is a way that I can check to see if it really is the positive crank case that needs to be changed?

Thanks!!

The part he's talking about is probably your air oil separator. Plenty of us have had to replace this item, and depending on the year of your car, Porsche may have updated the part. Porsche dealerships retail the part from $120-150. I changed out my own, and it was a not too difficult. I guess it took me about 3 hours. If someone offered me $1100 to do this job, I'd be giggling all the way to the bank! For the oil change, $220 is more reasonable, but still a bit high .

I was quoted for almost 1200 dollars by German Auto World at:

17826 Ne 5 Ave
Miami, FL

Please, if you have ANY car problems do not go to this place.

I decided to put my car back to a very reputable car dealership, and they said that the ONLY thing wrong with my car was the Oil Filter, and it would cost only 100 dollars to change the filter AND the oil.

Just a general warning to everyone, if you have car troubles, do not let these people rip you off.

Isn't it illegal to charge that much for services that don't need to be done?

WOW, glad you got your car straightened out, You should report them to the better business breau.... But first call them and let them know what happened once happened once the oil filter was replaced and see what they say.

So, I had my oil filter changed and my oil as well at the other GOOD shop, and then called the BAD shop, and spoke to the owner. After an hour of yelling at him and arguing, he called me a liar, then proceeded to hang up on me. I then proceeded to write a complaint to the better business bureau. Talk about shady.

They should hang sign below there original sign that says

"If we cant find a problem, WE'LL INVENT ONE!"

This is an age-old problem with mechanic shops, isn't it?

An educated consumer is always the one who pays the least for everything he buys.

One more reason I LOVE THIS WEB SITE!
