Header bolts
 

I'm in the middle of replacing my headers and I want to replace the 12 header bolts.
The parts list says they are M8 x 28.
The Porsche retail price is $1.44 (from renntech.org).
Local dealer wants $3.00 each.
Is there anything special about the bolts? Can I just buy M8 x 28 bolts from the hardware store. The thread pitch on every M8 I see online is 1.25.
Are the Porsche bolts a special grade? special coating?
I'd call Sunset but I need them this week.

I would recommend sticking with OEM bolts for, at least, the manifold. You can even reuse some of the older ones that are intact. What I did not include in my update when I did my install was that I purchased bolts from a local hardware store with what I thought was the appropriate thread size and pitch.....to make a long story short, my mechanic had to rethread my mistake. :eek: If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't mess around with it. I would have just purchased OEM parts from the stealership. Definitely a cheaper way to go in the long run. Also, there's too much cheap hardware out there that people try to pass for the real thing and IMHO it's not worth screwing up your ride. :cheers:
