Looking for advise....

I would like to check the rear differential oil level on my 2000 tiptronic.

Any advise ???

Anybody out there ?

Not sure how its done in a Tiptronic. Does it mention how in the Manual? (it may not for fear of liability). I can't recall on the Manual if there is an actual view hole or if you have to crack open the "fill hole" and measure it manually.

Is it mere curiosity to know the level or do you suspect it to be too low?

Thanks for the reply racer d. I have a leak coming out of the rear dif thus the reason for wanting to know how to check the oil level.

Apparently you can't check it.

I quess I will have to take the car into Rector Porsche on Monday. It sounds like a 5-6 hours of labor to have the seal replaced. Oh well....

I would love to get in there on my own for the fun of it, but due to lack of information it will be best to have the dealer do it for me.

Having the dealer do it is fine. Then when you feel the pain from paying the bill from Rectal porsche, order up a Bentley manual for the Boxster. An excellent guide to learning about the components of your car. Even if you don't do the work yourself, you will have a much improved understanding of what is being done and why. Knowledge is Power (unless you went to Faber College, where Knowledge is Good ; ) )

Bentley manual is not that much help in this case.

Trust me, I do have an understanding of the work involved, thats why I chose "rectal" porsche.
