Seat heater malfunction: driver side
Greetings all,
Last week, I turned my heated seat function on as I drove to the gym in my '01 S, and then after a few minutes, that cold morning, it went off: the switch that is. When I attempt to activate it, it flashes red, once, then goes off. My passenger seat works well. I tried a search, but could not find any info. Any thoughts, or experience? The fuses are all ok. Thanks in advance. |
Same thing happened to mine last Feb. (yeah yeah.. i know) Took it to the dealer (finally!) in Oct for an alignment and this problem. There was a short/burned out section in the wiring in the seat itself. My symptoms were exactly as you described. Strange that no fuses were blown, but that was the diagnosis. The fix is to replace the seat wiring to the tune of $575 or so (dealer price). The dealer would NOT honor Warranty Direct, since "we didn't sell it"!!, so I'm still debating what to do, and just haven't gotten around to calling WD to see what they suggest. (Hey.. its busy season for me and since it doesn't affect driveabliity, I really don't have time to fool with it just now! CPA's tend to get busy this time of year). It should be a relatively simple diy if you can get the wiring harness from the dealer or a recycler.
