Love my new short shifter!!

Got my new short shifter installed into my 01 S, 6-speed. Love it! it was from maxspeed motorsports, got it for around $80. Shifts are so much shorter, and feels so much more accurate. I've always thought the OEM shifting was too loose, and DEFINITELY too long. now it feels so much sportier when driving.

was worried before the install because other members seemed to hate the short shifter after installation. but i love it. SO glad i did it. probably the best $80-100 i've spent on my porsche yet!

Smile Short Shifter

Could not agree more! Just had my new Schnell short shifter insatalled in my '04 Boxster S and it is great. I however had some experience in that I have a Schnell short shifter in my '88 944 Track car so I knew it would be good. I just got the Boxster S and couldn't stand the OEM shift experience. I am now looking for some advice on Cold Air Intake kits for the Boxster S. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Spottersl

Does the Maxspeed short shift kit lean to the left or does it stand straight up as if it were OEM?

it stands straight up, as in oem. throws are so much shorter, and when in gear actually feels like it slots right into gear, not like the OEM shifter.

i also considered schnell shifter, but i liked my maxspeed exhaust so decided to stay with the same company...and couldn't be happier

and yea my next item may be a cold air intake. think the most popular one is the evo intake.

Blink,

If your shifter leans to the left, then you have the same short shifter I have.

When I took my car to Imagine Auto thay noticed it and fixed it.
The short shifter that leans to the left is made for right hand cars. you have to remove it and turn it around.

They did it for me and now my stick is straight again

Yeah about that.....

The eBay short shift kits are supplied by Top Speed, recently they redesigned the shaft bolt(?) to were you can't flip the shaft anymore.

So it's stuck leaning to the left.

Sorry to hear that.

I did not mind the lean to the left. But after I fixed it I was glad I did.

Does Top Speed offer any ideas on fixing it??
If not they should let buyers know about the lean.

Got any pictures? I'm sure there's a way around that "problem".

I am about to get the same thing. Did you get a replacement linkage for it as well? Also, was it fairly easy to put in?
Thanks
Chris

On the replacement linkage, does replacing the linkage reduce the side to side movement of the gear shift while its in gear??

My movement to shift gears is tight but once its in gear there is a large amount of play. Would replacing the linkage fix this?
