Woops, tore the seat
 

Anyone had any experience with repairing a tear in the bolster on a leather seat? I sat down in the car with a pair of pliers in my pocket and slashed a triangular cut near the point where the seat meets the backrest. It's driving me nuts! Thanks in advance.

I saw a car with with a black interior that had a small patch of color matched fabric tape covering a tear in the leather. It was well enough hidden that it didn't catch the eye unless you looked closely.

The tape solution could make this more bearable till you can find some kind of car interior shop that can make the repair. I know it would bug the crap out of me if I did this, especiallly knowing how it happened. Look to your local parts chains or possibly a custom trim shop to find the tape.

I would look at buying a used seat from someone and compare the price with repair of the current unit.

I did a little research today and found a shop that my dealer recommended for leather repair. $85.00 to patch or $200 to replace the entire bolster cover. I am going to patch it since the location is inconspicuous. I'll take before and after pics when the work is scheduled.

I did the same thing the very first week I bought it. I was changing out a light fixture in my garage and wanted to move the boxster to make sure I didnt drop anything on it that could hurt it.

I sat in the seat with a screwdriver in my pocket. I was getting married the next day and refused to leave my house until I found a leather repair guy who patched it. This week, the patch gave and the rip is back. Now, I need other options.
