Brake pads and oil change

Hi all,

On top of new rear tires and a new rear window, I'm about to do an oil change and brake pad change on my 01 boxster S. Can anyone give me an idea on the time it should take and any problems I should look for? I have the Bentley manual and a friend with trade knowledge and hand skills (just don't tell about the hand skills comment!)

Cheers,

-Ozspearo.

Service times

If you haven't done it before give yourself 1 hr or so for the oil & filter change (mostly to allow all the oil to drain out) and maybe up to 30 mins per set of pads.

Once you do one set the others will be easy. I'm including everything from drive in to drive out in the time.

It's all pretty straight forward, just follow the manual & have fun.

Cool, thanks for the reply.

Check Renntech.org for detailed instructions on brake pad change with pictures. I'd recommend using OEM vibration dampeners to avoid squealing as the pads wear.

Oil change is easy. Don't forget to ask for new "crush ring" when you buy your filter. The crush ring is for your oil drain plug and needs to be replaced at every oil change unless you like oil leakage. It's a 20 cent item. Also, don't skimp on oil. Use Mobil 1 as specified. The brakes I haven't done yet. Just turned 39,000 miles on my Boxster S.
