New Litronics = big improvement

This is probably an old subject, but just got the retrofit Litronics for my '97. Huge improvement over the original halogen low beam. Could never go back. The $1300 price tag is still a big bite though.

Regarding whether or not to install the control box for the high beams, if you drive in well illuminated areas (mostly city driving), you probably will never notice the difference. But if you drive in more rural areas or not well lighted areas, it's a huge improvement. The tilting of the low beams, and the supplemental halogen high beam really throw a lot of light down the road. Without the tilting upward of the low beam (control box not installed), you just don't get that much light down the road.

If the install is scaring you, it's not that difficult at all. On mine, the holes were all there, and the wires are all there. The hardest part is running the power wire to the windshield wiper motor wire (ignition +). It's all easy to locate, and the taps are straightforward. I ran the tilt motor control harness to the driver side headlight across the front of the trunk, tucked inside the carpet liner...total install time was about 20 min, including soldering time.

Anyway, the first set of headlights that were delivered were broken, so I returned them for an exchange. I had already installed the control box, but the exchange set of headlights came with another control box and harness...so I have a spare. If anyone is interested in the control box and harness, let me know.

Drop me a note and let me know how much you want for the control box.

Thanks

Where did you get them for $1,300? Is that each or for the pair? Just curious.

Pair and control box/harness about $1400 (including the clear corners) delivered (FL to CA) from a Porsche dealer in FL.

I believe they're still selling them (pair with controls) at $1300 without the clear corners.

that is a great price for a new set of litronics. they should really advertise that more.
considering i sold my clear non-lits for $800 on the ebay. and used lits go for $1000-$1100 quite often.

i think i might have an extra high beam control module also. can't decide if i want to bother since i live in los angeles. light pollution, regular pollution etc. tholyoak, let me know if that falls through.
