996 TT Brake Calipers

Will the front 996 TT calipers fit on a 986 w/o any modifications?

Will installing the fronts only and leaving the small 986 brakes in the rear make the brakes all wack?

Even if they do fit... think twice for two reasons: 1) bias will move forward... much more clamping power at the front with those turbo calipers, and 2) you may not like the increased pedal travel... your m/c will have to move more fluid to actuate those 8 piston binders, so travel will increase.

Shouldn't the 996 TT calipers be a 4 piston design just like the 986 except larger?

Sorry, I made a typo. You are correct they are 4 pistons, but much larger diameter pistons (so more fluid needs to move for each unit of distance the piston extends).

One other thing to consider is rotor thickness. The turbo calipers are designed to work with turbo rotors, which are 32mm thick. Boxster front rotors are only 24mm (base) or 28mm (S). What rotors do you plan to run?

I'd use a set of 996 TT rotors of course.

I believe wheel carriers are different. Not 100% sure, but I beleive that is why PCCBs would originally only work with turbos and C4s.
