Bmw Is Talking Trash!!! Need Help.
My regional VP saw my 2000 2.7 boxster and started talking trash about it. Now i dont know if it is true but he says his car is faster and will handle better on the track, I just cant believe it so if anyone has any info on this let me know I want to stick it to him. He drives a BMW z4 dont know the year but can find out if needed please help me crush him if you can

AZ UFO, does this Regional VP report to you...or do you report to him?
If you report to him, let it drop, not a good career move to set him straight! :) If he reports to you, kick his arse, and then fire him for stupidity. |
Hey, on second thought, get some Red Line Water Wetter, and when he is not looking, put it in his fuel tank.
|
I do report to him but he's a good guy and will be able to take it i need facts about his car vs mine any help would be awsome.

I called him he has a 3.0 ltr :(

Power/weight ratio, 1/4 mile, breaking distance, slalom, drag coefficient all favor the Boxter assuming he is not in a Z4M.
The only way to know for sure is... wait! Do I smell a challenge? I think I do! Find the next open track day in your area and tell him to meet you there and bring his helmet. Solo timed runs, fastest time wins. Loser buys the steaks and beer afterwards. It will be a good bonding day with the ol' VP. |
"Battle Royale!"

Check this out. They look pretty equal.

2.7L Boxster vs. Z4 3.0i? Hmm, that's a tricky one. I'd say the Boxster, you have the edge in power, lighter weight, and probably slightly stiffer suspension. That's assuming you have a more recent model tho, the 2000 2.7L might be a bit down at least in a straight line. I drove a 3.0i for a weekend last year, it was pretty fun but not quite the power. The car had quite a bit more roll tho, and the steering wasn't nearly as sharp.
My advice, get a Boxster S and there's no competition;) Unless it's a Z4M, then you better hope for lots of corners:( -David |
Here is another U-tube challenge with Boxter, Z4 and Honda S2000. It includes lap times and is good for a chuckle.

They are both fine cars.
I recommend you let it go. :) |
Got one for you Top Gear fans:
The 2003 Boxster beat both the Z4 3.0 and the S2000 around their track. From what I hear the Z4's have a terrible ride, Or what Clarkson says: Making fun of the Z4 being made for Americans "It's Sporty, Ain't got no suspention" lol :D :D Check out the Vid: Part One: Top Gear: Boxster vs S2000 vs Z4 Part Two: Top Gear: Boxster vs S2000 vs Z4 |
Meh....anyone can buy a fast car. Beat him around a track with a slower car and then you'll really have something to talk about.

Evil...pure evil! Haha ;)

Muahahah!! ;) Totally depends on which model he has. Find out the year. The 2003 3.0 has 225hp, which is very close to your 217hp. Straight line figures are very close also. The later years have 255hp which is close to 986S. I was considered the z4 before I got the box. The two cars are really close. The z4 posted 2mph higher slalom speed than the 986S which is a surprise. I think the consensus is the box is easier to drive hard, and more forgiving. In a race, it will be up to shear will power and preperation. Either that or treachery. Note: sabotage with WW will need 9 months before your race. :D |
Since he laid down the challenge, you go first and he has to pass you.
Use the Boxster's big brakes. Brake hard, dive into the corners, and win the curvy bits. As you exit into the straights where he has the advantage, just don't give him the hand signal to pass (it's DE rules, right?). How hard can it be? It's like a free steak and beer.... but I agree, a day at the track with true car people can be fun, regardless of the outcome. If he's a Type A, let it go and go back to work. |
