Air Scoops on Boxster.

Anyone have any idea why the scoop architecture are different on each side of the vehicle? The driver side has a lip closest to the door seam and the passenger side is flush.

Maybe has some to do with the air-intake being on the driver side and the cooling fan pumping air out on the passenger side? I've never noticed a difference on the grills though.
