Installing full power seats

So I just picked up a pair of full power with lumbar, heated seats in full leather out of a 996 Turbo to install into my 02 Box S. The Box did not come with full power (came with partial power) seats or the heating option.

I know that to power the heating elements I am going to have to fab an overlay harness to give them power and install the associated relays and switches, but should power to the seat motors be there, and will I have to modify any plugs etc? I searched on the topic and couldn't really find an answer to this.

Anyone has ANY insight on this? I'm picking them up this weekend.

Try posting your request on renntech.org....While this site is super, you might find a few more folks with electrical experience over there....

For those that are interested, I picked up the seats this weekend and they are beautiful. The supple leather is as soft as, well you know what and these look brand new.

Anyway, I've been speaking with Loren and perusing the wiring schematic to get the full power section to work properly, and its a bit difficult. Basically, the memory controller in the driver seat is what controls the servo motors; i.e. when you push an adjustment button, the button talks to the memory controller, and the controller instructs the motor to move. So, its unfortunately not as simple as just plugging the seat into power.

I'll post back when I have this all figured out ;)

Update:

I have the wiring reverse engineered for this install. If anyone else is considering doing this, its a very easy mod to get the seat motors to work. If you want to install the full memory system, that is a different story. I will post a step by step instructional when I actually install the seats this week.

Cloudsurfer,
Do you have the install instructions? Thanks

Do the heated seats work too?

Also what was the reason to add full power seats? Being a manual and a powerful sports car there's not many people I know I could hand the keys to, so with me being the only driver I don't need to adjust the seats very often. Do other people drive your boxster often or do the new seats offer some additional support our seats lack?

I have an opportunity to buy a pair of memory seats and was wondering whether anyone has a DIY for the installation.

Thanks
