Last night i wrote about puttering(including smoke) problems with my 99 boxster.Well today it does not start at all. When i try to start it a large amount of smoke continues to come out of the exhaust. Please help!

Sounds like probable air/oil separator failure. Easy part to swap out for $100.

How to replace the AOS: http://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/11241-oil-seperator-oil-filler-pipe-replacement.html

The AOS is located in the engine compartment. If you don't know how to get there, see this thread:

DO NOT drive the car with it smoking badly....serious engine damage could result. Don't even start it!

I am no mechanologist, but you didn't by chance give it any throttle when trying to start it through this whole ordeal did you? What color is the smoke, is it a blue/gray color or black, as one is a fuel problem, and the other is an oil problem. Before we trouble shoot, we need to know what we are trouble shooting! .

I was and is grayish smoke. I was told that probaly the air/oil seperator. I changed that out today with no improvement. Still has some smoke coming out exhaust when trying to start

Well.....It's fuel injected, and that's a huge nono! You probably loaded it up with fuel (gray smoke) and your car is trying to get over it. You many have fouled the plugs depending on how much gas we are talking about here. You might want to see if it will crank over and fire without any throttle, once running, let it warm up with no throttle, and then go for a short drive, but stay close to home ansee if it clears itself out. Let us know what you find out, but I bet that's what happened, and it should be able to recover, and the worse thing you may have to do is change the plugs. Anybody else with me on this, or am I all wet?

matthewjlms986,

Did you get your car whipped into shape?
