Best Brakes for DE
 

I am new to Porsche and am lookng forward to my first DE next month and another one in October. What are the best brakes to use that will do well for DE and everyday driving in between for my 2000 Boxster?

Stock pads with plenty of meat left... no problem.

Absolutely flush out your brake fluid, great advice there. I use ATE and switch back and forth from the gold to the blue.

After my first DE my brake pads squeeled for a week. Seems that they glazed over. So I switched to cross dilled and slotted Zimmermans which solved that problem. This year I switched to Pagid orange and they are incredible. They squeal like crazy on the street though so you will want to change them out after each DE.

Make sure you get OEM pads. Due to a mix up at my suppliers I had to run some cheap generic pads and they were useless, overheating after only a few sessions. Even worse the amount of dust created was crazy and I am still struggling to clean off the wheels, luckily they are a spare set :(. My OEM ones used for the previous events did not have the same problems.

After speaking to a couple of the other drivers at my last event I am waiting for a set of EBC Yellow to be delivered, they rated them highly and their wheels were spotless afterwards.

if you plan on doing frequent DE's, invest in a set of good race pads (Pagid Orange, Hawk HT-10). they work MUCH better on the track and will last a lot longer. swap your street pads back in when you're done.

if you're just doing one DE, stock pads should be fine
