Air Injection Valve...Anybody Ever??
 

I have a couple P codes (0410 & 1411), cars runs bad and apperntly it is likely that I will be needing to replace the air injection valve. I've heard its a REAL PITA!!! So, anybody ever done this?? Got a write-up on it anywhere? Anything wold be appreciated.

I had this issue up to a month ago, the shop doing my new set of mods has a fix for this that is very affordable.

On Saturday I'm picking up my car and I will let you know if the fix fixed it.

From my understanding the secondary air system is used to pump air into the muffler or cats, or something to lower emissions at start up, there is a air pump that should be tested and then a series of valves. The system on the 993 had allot of failures and as our Boxsters are getting older with higher millage ours are failing also.

What do you think is loose?

I disconnected my MAF wiring harness, but did not clear the codes. Took it out for a drive and it made a HUGE difference. However, it did not completely clear up the problem. There is the slightest hesitation when I hit the gas hard from a full stop. Could this be from not clearing the codes or not having the proper MAF sensor hooked up to it?? Or do you guys think I lookin' at the secondary air system still as the culprit?? Any thoughts...bring em'

Update and Question
I decided to check the intake filter last night before I went to bed and it was nasty. I had ordered a new one, but not put it in. Obviously the new one is in now. This led me to believe maybe I could get lucky (if that's what you want to call it) and it only be the MAF. So, I pulled the wires out of the MAF sensor and disconnected the battery for a minute to clear the codes. Started the car, drove it till it got up to temp and it ran fine (as far as I could tell). Only thing it did, was from a full stop, if you push down on the gas it will hesitate (kinda, but not even) for maybe 1/2 a second. Enough for the driver to notice, but probably not anyone else. This definitely leads me to believe I have a bad mass air sensor. This is where my question for you comes (lol u knew it was coming...right?) Do you think that slight hesitation that I speak of is simply b/c of the sensor not being plugged in and will dissappear when everything is back in proper order (speaking of the sensor only at this tiime)?? As soon as I get a chance i'm gonna check the codes on the car again and hopefully they've changed. That said...gonna get some electronic cleaner or something and clean the sensor. Hopefully it will work and I won't have to buy a new one just yet.

The answer to your question is "probably". You wont know the answer until you replace the sensor and go for a test run. oh FYI, dont use "Electrical Parts Cleaner" on the MAF, buy a can of "Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner", its made by teh same company that makes the brake cleaner and electrical parts cleaner... CRC.

Cleaned the MAF sensor, installed it and it runs fine again. May have gotten away w/one for now anyway. I have driven it for about 10-15 minutes and checked to see if there were any codes and there were none (my cel apparently is not working...next fix) so I just used the code reader after the test drive. I have to ask however...Why would there be a couple codes for a vacuum leak and not show them now. Can a MAF sensor trip those codes to??
