I need advice on power mods

I was reading the other day about desnorkeling my car and i did it I have a 2000 2.7 and have never done anything to it except the snokel the other day. It does have the sports exhaust system from porsche but what else can i do that wont cost an arm and a leg say around 2500 to get more power from my car? Any advice would be a big help.

For $2500 you wont get much more than 10 to 15 HP.

You could run a Boxster Spec exhaust and gain +18lbs and +12hp,dyno proven at the wheels! It's only a $200-500(pending on shop) mod to your OEM exhaust.

Other then that,an intake kit and headers could easily gain you 10-15hp for half of $2500.

Evo intake and powerchip would run you about $1000 plus install.

Why do you want more power? How do you use the Boxster - street, Ax, DE ?
I would start with Deluboz headers/exhaust system (no affiliation) - Dyno results is available.
Then, I would find wheels and tires for your intended use.
At the same time, IMO, check on brake pads for your intended use (go fast, stop fast).

Finally, if you haven't already, get yourself to the track and learn how to drive faster

If you want to talk, I am in Phoenix.

Take care,

Ed

Boxster HP gain advice?

Can someone explain what this is:
"You could run a Boxster Spec exhaust and gain +18lbs and +12hp,dyno proven at the wheels! It's only a $200-500(pending on shop) mod to your OEM exhaust".

What is this change, how is it done and is it Legal?

For the Boxster Spec exhaust they just the OEM in half(hamburger wise),gut it out, weld a pipe to each inlet and lead them to the outlet of the exhaust and then re-close it. Looks stock but isn't. I have the dyno charts of the exhaust if anyone is interested.

Save your money for tires. A 986 usually runs best (and turns the fastest lap times) when you leave the motor alone. Driver training, tires, suspension, and weight reduction all result in greater performance/dollar than engine mods by a longshot. Another forum member recently shaved 8sec. off his best time with a 2 day driver training course. Adding 100hp would only shave 1-2 sec. on most tracks.

Porsche already gave you all the tools you need. Save motor mods for your Ford/Chevy/Honda /Mitsu. where HP is cheap and easy to add.
