18" Turbo Twist solid vs. hollow spoke weights
Anyone know or have a website that features the weights of Porsche OEM wheels?
I have 18" turbo twist solid spokes now and am looking at a set of turbo twist 18" hollow spokes I can get my hands on cheap. I want to see the weight savings to get an idea if it is worth the time/energy. Also, I am looking at painting them black since they have soem curb rash needing repair and need to be painted anyway. I'd like to see how that looks if anyone has done it or has a pic of it. I have seen the 17" Boxster S wheels in black and they look good. Just want to do something different as I'll keep both sets of wheels My 18's came from a 996 narrow body so I had to add 15mm H&R spacers to get them to run properly. Thanks in advance, |

Thanks Bob.
Definitely bookmarked that one! Great info. Can save 25lbs of unsprung weight with those wheels. big loss of rotational mass there. now got to check the offsets against what I have now... JMW  |
Im assuming these are the hollow spokes from the 993 turbo? If so... those are really rare. The newer and much more common style twist hollow spokes only came in 18x11 in the rear as seen on the turbos and gt2's. The weight saving is considerable though.

Here is a good guide:
http://members.rennlist.com/911pcars/WheelWts.html I have 993 hollow spokes on my car. 18x10 rear ET40. Only concern is its a bit too much offset in the rear. They are considerably lighter than the solid spoke version of these. Patrick |
