ROW 030 front sway bar

so i got lucky and won this on sleezbay.
got a question for those who installed it...
any tips or suggestions while installing this? is it just a simple swap (take old out, put new in) or is there more to it? it comes with both bushings.

also, what is retail price of this part form porsche?

thx in advance

Why did you want it? I heard a stiffer front bar will increase your understeer... and I for one want LESS understeer.

its sopposed to eliminate understeer, not increase it

I don't know why people say it increases understeer,it sure doesn't feel like it,infact it feels like the opposite. Driving a base Boxster feels like a minivan compared to my Boxster w/ the RoW kit on it,well not quiet but you get the point.

Hey DJ you won my auction,it's packed and ready to go,I just sent you the invoice. No laughing at my custom made box I had to make for the damn thing,it's almost 4 feet long.

sure did man.
i sent you a PM just a few seconds ago too lol

anyways, i need some input on putting this stuff on

It says it only helps because of reduced body roll. On a stock suspension it will help, but a sport suspension will make the car understeer more due to the stiffened springs/shocks.

Here are some figures courtesy of Insite who PM'd me on topic. He swears by the M030 upgrade:

"Difference between the 'S' and base sways is up front, where you are about 9% stiffer than the base model.

Upgrade the sways, trust me. here are the parts you need:

996.343.701.23 Front 'S' M030 $105.28
986.333.701.20 Rear Base M030 $ 70.12
996.343.792.17 Bushings, Front $ 6.12 x 2
996.333.792.25 Bushings, Rear $ 8.47 x 2

Total: $204.58 plus shipping from Sunset.

This REALLY improves the car. Probably the most bang for the buck you can get."

I'm sure others will be able to explain it better than I, but here goes. Increasing to a stiffer front sway bar will cause more understeer in steady state cornering. It transfers lateral loads quicker which may make the steering feel 'sharper', but it definitely causes understeer.

Similar question

I have the front and rear shock tower braces from Schnell. I am thinking of getting 18" wheels. If I add ONLY the M030 front and rear sway bars, would this be a decent riding sharper handling street machine? I would rather not go to the full M030 at this point in time as the ride is quite stiff right now and a rough NEastern rode can be quite jarring. Old age wants to know.

Increasing the front anti-roll bar rate on a Boxster will increase understeer. The car will FEEL better because it will have less body roll, and transitionally it will be more stable and faster.

But it will increase understeer.
