What are stock rear shocks on '98 986
Hi guys,
Do any of you know what the stock '98 986 rear shocks are? I'm going to swap mine out because both of them suffer from slow oil seepage. I want to keep it as stock as possible, but if there is a better handling/cheaper alternative, then I'm keen to hear about it. many thanks in advance, Alex |
If the rears are going the fronts probably aren't behind.....That being said it's going to expensive to install rear shocks,so why not do the whole suspension over again? I recommend the RoW 030 kit from Porsche. Many people say the ride is just as smooth but the car handles like it's on rails. It's under $1k(Suncoast) and it's a whole suspension, front and rear shocks, springs & sway bars w/ bushings. I heard Sunset sells the whole kit for $920,I will verify that on Monday when they open.

That sounds interesting. Is that a std Porsche kit or Techquipment?
I'd previously been told to expect AU$500 per shock absorber just for the part. Of course being in Oz means that parts and availability are a very different story from you lucky devils in the US. |
I am sure you could buy your parts from Sunset in Oregon and they would send them to you down under and save you some money.
I agree with the other posters... if you have to change out your rear struts, then do all four and go with lowering springs from H&R or the whole Porsche setup. I wish I had done that when I bought my rear struts and replaced them. |
