Passenger Seat Rattle
anyone ever experience a rattling passenger seat while cruising along? The back of the seat shakes causing a annoying noise. If you grab the seat it will stop.. Any ideas? Can the seat back be tightned down any?
|
What is you change the angle of the seat-back or the position?
|
thanks for the reply.. I have tried to change the seat back position.. and it helps "slightly" however, not enough. Unless I move seat back way back (into the roll bar) then it stops squeeking / rattling. It seems the seat back has too much "play" in it? I can grab it and move it slightly back and forth and creat the same sound.... Just wondering if the seat back can be slightly tightened down?

I have exactly the same rattle in my 01 and, unfortunately, haven't yet figured out how to fix it. Hopefully, someone will have an answer :)

I complained about the same early on to the dealership. Same problem - the thing could really get going, so there was a 1-2" swing going at the top of the seat. Well, when I told them about it, they gave me one of those looks... after other experiences with them I was glad they didn't screw with it after all.
It seemed to go away on its own over time. Maybe "the look" fixed it. |
I have no other reason to go to the dealer, but if having the service advisor "look" at it solves the problem, I'll make an appointment tomorrow.

resurrecting an old thread. Has anyone else had this problem? I have an annoying rattle from the passenger side. It goes away when someone is sitting there....very difficult to troubleshoot.

Relieve the tension on the seat bolts....
...loosen the seat bolts and then Re-tighten them. Sometimes you can get a “sympathetic vibration” and those can be eliminated by relieving tension and then reapplying it on the part.
It’s free. Easy. And can’t hurt to try. |
It also could be the seat belt latch. Sometimes it vibrates on the door panel. Isolate that first.
|
I'll try those things. It does seem like a resonant vibration in the seat. If I put a little weight on the top it doesn't rattle. Maybe the seat is a little lose in its tracks. I dunno.

Okay its fixed. I was feeling behind the passenger seat while driving trying again to see what it might be. It turned out to be a loose coat hook. I didn't even know it had one. You gotta get an easy one now and then.
