CNC Motors
If you've been on YT lately, you've no doubt seen it blowing up with the stories about CNC Motors. Doesn't sound good. Could be a lot of expensive casualties.
9 yrs ago I stopped by their previous location to look at a Nordic Gold PTS 07 CS. I was on my annual golf trip to Temecula, so we just drove up the road to Ontario after that day's round. Unfortunately I was already 3rd in line for the CS. It was still there along with several other exp exotics. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1617143380.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1617143460.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1617143498.jpg They had prob 60 cars in their showroom. I spoke to one of the owners, Fraser Thom, and asked him how they got so many exotic cars. He said they had feelers out to all the dealerships and when one got a car in they didn't know what to do with they contacted him and he bought it. Seemed like a good business model and would be viable with all the exotics in SoCal. They had my email addr from my correspondence on the CS, so they'd send their monthly email with a list of cars they had on sale. Was fun to look over all the candy. Fast fwd to 2018 and they moved to a bigger location. Not long after that they advertised that they'd sell your car on consignment. You just had to bring it to their dealership. Now the internet is blowing up with stories about the remaining owner Clay Thom selling consignment cars but not paying the owner and not giving the new owner a title. Oh oh. There are quite a few upset people involved who have quite a bit of money on the line. Clay is in the middle and has plenty of "reasons" why things went south and he's almost able to make everyone whole. He just needs everyone to back off with the negative pub so he can get some investors in and sell some cars. Sounds like a Ponzi scheme to me and there are going to be a lot of ppl holding an empty bag. From what I can gather, Fraser got out last Mar, maybe a casualty of their COVID layoffs or maybe he didn't like how Clay was operating. Here's a video with one of the victims. There's also a video of Clay trying to explain how everything happened but he never realizes it would all go away if he paid his debts. Anyway, if you have some time to kill and want to go down an interesting rabbit hole, enjoy. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZjJHUKgVVCw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
If you're following along with this saga and wondering how something like this could happen, here's a decent explanation. There is some debate in the comments that boutique dealers can get floorplan financing, but don't get caught up in the minor details. The overall concept is what's important.
NOTE: this may be NSFW as there's 1 cuss word. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/D7JInl_wU_A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Some good news for Shane. Hope the rest of the participants caught in the web are as lucky.

Wow, some bigger allegations.
NEVER give your car & title over to a consigner. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/E-13BZDkyFU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
More updates.
I didn't post the video about Ferrari luggage as you could easily connect the nefarious dots but it was still a bit unsubstantiated. The video is still up if you want to check it out. This video came out yesterday. It's a hoot! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mXK50QQuucg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Sadly his retraction came out this morning. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/iXaBL4v4fbQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Instead of that retraction he should have been out shopping for another attorney. |

Any retraction from anyone involving CNC is a weak move. Have you followed the blogs... complaints... legal proceedings? I'll tell you... if it had been me screwed by CNC I wouldn't be vlogging about it. |
You kinda need to watch more than you did. You misconstrued.

I came back thinking maybe Starter was referring to Rick Ashley, but you need to see the comments for that joke.

If he had told the CNC lawyers to **** off I'd had more respect for his original position. |
Dan is not going to C&D from more CNC videos, he's just going to be careful how he travels that road. Obviously Clay is watching closely. The C&D has little power and Clay would never enforce it because it could boomerang back on Clay to open up his books, which would probably be disastrous to Clay, and cost Clay a lot of lawyer fees. Clay better be saving up his lawyer fees for all the suits about to come his way from disgruntled customers, consigners and hopefully CA state authorities. But I'm not sure Clay is smart enough to know that.

OK, since we need more content to ace the spammers...
Without question, Clay is a dirtbag. But there sure are a lot of people who gave him the opportunity to be a dirtbag. How do you hand over your car AND your title to a consignor? And then when you have issues continue to leave your cars at his business? You don't have to be a "car person" to have good business acumen. They had to have good enough credit to get a loan, so they had to be doing something right in order to own these cars. Why are they such id10ts? If you load the gun, chamber a round, and hand the gun to Clay, is it entirely his fault if he shoots you? Not meant to release Clay of ANY of his responsibility, but c'mon man. This is not the only person who's done this: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Pe-iTUj9ZrE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
