Question for AV Techies........
I recently hung a nice 55" LED Smart TV in my garage with a home theater set-up etc. I do not have cable TV running to it nor do I plan to, the routing of wires would simply be too much of a pita. It currently has a BlueRay player attached to it and we can watch Netflix.
I would like to be able to watch F1 races on it live, is there a website I could pull up on my laptop and run a connection from it to the TV? Other options? |
Got a small factor pc hooked up to the TV, browsing 986forum on the 52" flat screen from the sofa on occasion ;)

speed reading aging... think you asking for a pay-per-view LIVE F1 website?

if you can run CAT5 (ethernet) cable to it, you can get HDMI extenders that would let you connect to a remote cable box or other device with HDMI out 300 feet plus away
There are also a few wireless HDMI extenders that work pretty well up to around 30-40 feet away If you want to go that way, let me know and I can give you more details I used to be in the Home Theater business and know my way around that stuff |

edit: was bragging about torrents dwloads. Removed this post after reading this news a few min ago: http://dancemusicnw.com/canada-unleashed-new-torrenting-laws-dont-want-miss-january-1-2015/ Highly illegal  |
Thanks Guys. Jay, I may be sending you a PM later, I'm going to pick my brother-in-law's brain since he's a HT guru himself. Nine86, never been a fan of torrents, one of my kids was messing about with them a couple of years back and I put the kibosh down on that asap.
I know that there are some other race formats (24 hours of Nurburgring) that are broadcast live via certain race websites, didn't know if there was something similar for F1. I should of figured Ecclestone would of kiboshed those too. |
i don't know of websites, but you can snag a chromecast for $35 and stream from your laptop (or any computer or smartphone) to a tv over wifi.
i think BBC streams some races from time to time (sky sports has a dedicated F1 channel) |
There are some websites out there - I don't have cable, stream everything from the internet - and have no problem finding hockey games or baseball games for free.
The downside - when it comes to free, you take what you can get. Still haven't had any luck finding HD quality streaming video for free. And you have to put up with lots of pop-up ads. Overall, it's not bad for a casual viewer, but if you are a serious watcher, the quality might drive you nuts. When I'm home, I'll dig out the links and send them to you to try out. |
Thanks Guys. I've decided to make it simple, I'll just follow Perfectlap around awhile and wait for him to drop a "Hoppa", snag it and call it a day.
