He was a nubbie who had never ridden with this group. He was placed at the back next to the sweep...which is the worst place for a new rider to be. He felt he needed to keep up and when he tried to catch the group, target fixation on the road resulted in this crash. After the wreck he swore he never saw the trailer...and yes I know the parties involved.

This is just as likely to happen in a drive when you have a new guy who has never gone on an organized drive. Never put a new guy at the back of the fast group as they will always feel like they either need to ride/drive as good as the leader or they feel they need to "keep up" and end up taking out innocent people.
