Hurricane coming, HELP!!!

We live in South Florida have a 2000 Boxster. Just replaced the battery as we haven't run her in months. Before we changed the battery, the horn kept going off when I tried to jump it and the ignition is locked. Changed the battery, ignition is still locked (slightly turns as before, but that's in, doesn't even light up the panel), horn is still blaring and now the driver door is locked and won't open with the fob/key or from inside!! Need to get this bad girl into the garage and it's 100' away! Too damn old to willingly want to push her that far! HELP!!!!!!!!!

If your key only turns slightly try turning the steering wheel to release the steering lock. The horn will blare if you don't turn on the ignition within 10 seconds after unlocking a door with a key.

It sounds like this could be your problem. Hope it is!

Thanks Anker, but steering column isn't locked, moves freely. Alarm blares as soon as I reconnect the terminals to the battery

In the meantime... pull the horn associated fuse. Good luck.

Have you replaced your ignition switch?
Sounds like it’s bad.

Yes, sounds like a failed ign switch. A fairly easy fix if you can get the part.

If it were my car I would probably attach the tow hook, get a tow strap, and pull her to safety with another car or truck. Once secure you can spend your time battening down the hatches and bracing for impact. The latest forecast indicates a large cat 4 but they are expecting it to turn north and graze FL maybe 100 mi offshore instead of a direct hit. Good news for Palm Beach folks.

Leave the car out and fix later. This storm will not affect you other than some rain and wind.

Thankfully the storm just glanced us; lucky and blessed! Pushed (too damn old for that! :P ) her into the garage where she is safely. So a bad ignition switch is the prevalent thought? This would cause the horn/alarm to go off and the driver door to remain locked (won't open with key)?
