Interested in Boxer

Hello,

New to the forum here, and I'm interested in a purchasing a Boxer. I would like an automatic for LA traffic (I now manuals are more fun), but mainly just want a convertible Porsche that's fun to drive (aren't they all??). I don't care about power, engine size.

I guess my main question is, what year is best for under 15k? Do I want Tiptronic? Is a used Boxster with 75K plus miles ok?

Appreciate the help!

Tiptronics are less expensive than manuals, so for $15K you should be able to pick up a base Tiptronic 987. 75K miles is fine. You may have to change some suspension components at around 100K miles.

Thank you very much for this. What is the intermediate shaft failure I’ve been reading about? Are there certain years I should avoid or something I should look for when purchasing?

Search for IMS and you will have more than enough information.

Searching for a 'Boxster' will help with your choices as well.

BOXER is a horizontally apposed engine.
BOXSTER is an entry level Porsche.
