steering wheel lock

trouble with steering lock
no key turn
no unlock steering whee
have replaced ignition switch
What activates the steering wheel unlock bolt? electrical/mechanical
any one willing to answer questions over the phone? 1st boxster I've owned

Mechanical.

You'll need to replace the mechanical part of your ignition key assembly.

Check out my thread on my steering lock problem and solution. Turning the key to the first position mechanically pulls the steering lock bolt back.
