Newbie with a 1997 boxster

Hey all I’m new to the Porsche world. Just bought a 1997 boxster with 74,000 miles on it. When I bought it he told me it was some sort of special edition because of its color combinations. It is silver with a reddish orange interior with 17in twist rims. I can’t find any info on that statement.
So was there a special edition in the year 1997?
Thanks in advance

i don't know but that was a fairly common color combo if it had Boxster red interior. Its my favorite

There where no factory special editions of the 986 Boxster, except for the 2004 Anniversary Special Edition. That said, Porsche will customize any aspect of the car (paint, color, stitching, etc) for the right price, so it could have some unique characteristics if that was done, however the Silver/Red combo is somewhat common.

Boxster

Thank you for the replies. I’m new to the Porsche scene. I have been into vintage Vws all of my life but have always wanted a Boxster. I figured it was time.

Hey 55 Splitty welcome to the forum. I have a 99 Boxster same color combo. Previous owner told me that combo is what Porsche used for their ad campaign and that is why he choose it. May not add to out value but it is a great combo. Enjoy the ride!!:matchup:
