New 986 owner in the Bay Area, first foray into Porsche

1998 Boxster base
A lot of options, including a hardtop!

Here is the list I got from the decoder, this car even has the OE maintenance book with the option code tag and the maintenance book was even filled out by the service centers who worked on it!

09991 manufacture from the exclusive-programme
139 Seat Heating - Left
340 Seat heating - Right
437 Comfort seat left
438 Comfort seat right
454 Automatic speed control
490 Hi-Fi sound system
537 Left seat with positrol and lumbar
551 Air Deflector (Cabriolet)
659 Onboard computer
692 Remote CD changer (6-disc)
981 All leather lining
983 Leather seats front and rear
983 Leather seats front (NOT REAR)
C02 Equipped with catalytic converter
X70 Metal Door Sill with Insignia
X71 Aluminum Instrument Dials
X97 Aluminium/leather shift knob
X98 Aluminium/leather parking break handle

One of my favorite options on the car is the OEM Aerokit I on it. Its what caught my eye to begin with, and even though the front bumper is a bit tore up, it still looks great to me.

Turns out the car was well maintained by the previous owner, and it seems the motor was replaced at 38k, probably due to the IMS.

Here's the pics, sorry for the potato quality, I took these right after the car was washed.

I'd have to admit that AERO kit 1 is the way to go.

Another San Jose Boxster

The full leather interior is where it's at, my 986 has that too.

Are there any meets or anything worth going to locally?

Depending on what you mean by meets, there is a list of racing, AX, DE, etc, events in your area at motorsportreg.com. And pca.com for non-racing events.

Yeah, I'll be taking it out to AX once a few things on the car are sorted out.

First Saturday of every month at EASY in Emeryville is the R-Gruppe meet. Here's an article I wrote about it.

And on the second Saturday, of course, is the Cars & Coffee at Canepa Design in Scotts Valley, which is definitely worth checking out. A lot of cool cars show up, plus they open up their workshop so you can poke around at all the cars being worked on.

Aero I is what attracted me to the car since it looked nothing like any other Boxster I've seen. Unfortunately the car was a bit too low for the previous owner and the bottom of the bumper is all torn up, hence the white racers tape on the bottom. I'm planning on getting it repaired, but I know that will take a while. I'll probably get a C4/Turbo front bumper as a substitute while the Aero I is getting repaired. Another option I was looking at was the GT3tek front lip as it would cover up all the nastiness haha.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I won't be able to get there until September, as I am on the road in Sothern CA for work. Ugh its going to be ridiculously hot.

Just bought a 2005 triptronic Boxster

I'm a first time Porsche owner, just bought a used 2005 triptronic Boxster with 62 K miles from a Porsche dealership on Friday...after driving it for less than 40 miles from the dealership it started spitting out oil(very clean), needless to say I'm taking it back to the service department Monday. any thoughts as to what this might be? I'm a bit in shock!
Thanks....

A little more information would help, like where is the oil 'spitting out' from? How was the car performing? Any noises? Any other problems or symptoms?
