why disadvantage to very lo mile '99?

sorry to pepper the forum with so many posts but I am new to the boxster. some posters have indicated that a 'garage queen' is not a desirable auto. there is a 99 boxster with 21,000 miles ,original owner, all service records, that I wanted to look at. why would such a low mileage vehicle be an issue?..not raced just casual use.

If you can verify the mileage and the maintenance, get a PPI and rest easy. I bought a '98 with 15K two years ago and couldn't be happier.
p.s. Albany, NY?

So the owner has a record

of 11 oil changes, 5 brake fluid flushes, etc? There are things that need to get done based on time and not just miles.

2k miles per year is on the low side and things like tires deteriorate with age as well as miles. So ask about the age of the tires...verify with the date on the sidewall.

And there are problems specific to the early 99 build cars that come out at low miles so a 99 is a case where low miles may (or may not) be a bad thing depending on build date.

Plus the seller probably values the car at more than it is worth just because it is low mileage. Boxsters aren't collector cars...too many built and not special enough because of that.

There is an excellent article at pca.org about purchasing a Boxster. They run through the history of the car and make a suggestion as to which year to look for. It is worth the read.
