First time, buying a 02 Boxster any advise

Hello folks,

I will be picking up a 2002 Porsche (44000 km) in the next 2 days. Any advise as in closing that I should be aware. I am purchasing it from a used car dealership. Thanks in advance.

Steven

Hey ssflai,

As you can see, I am pretty new to the forum but I wish I had discovered this forum before my purchase last year. I knew the standard procedures from past car buying experience and did drive many Boxsters before I made my purchase. I did do a PPI and carfax history before my purchase.

There are so many threads in this forum that is helpful. NickCats has a thread in the general forum that has three links for Mike Fock and RandallNeighbor..... very, very helpful. Also, the long thread regarding Sloan's search for a Boxster was helpful as well.

Have fun and enjoy your purchase.... Spring is coming

Look at the end of the

buying a Boxster articles as they list things to look for when picking the car up.

But most important is an independent PPI.

Advice

Best advice may seem like a no brainer...just have a mechanic you really trust check it.

The websites listed above really helped me a lot. I also figured out where the car was purchased and serviced and that dealer was kind enough to give me copies of all the records. Great for piece of mind if the seller isn't a nut like me that keeps a binder with every receipt.

Hope it works out. I bought my '02 last July and it has been simply fantastic!

Carfax

Complete service history

PPI from an experienced Porsche mechanic that knows the underside of the car.

Warranty if you can get one.

Good luck.
