Just curious, why do you want to trade in for a boxster? Please no smart ass comments guys... we all know the boxster is better, but I want to know blacksapphire's thoughts.

i honestly don't know if hte boxster is better or not...but I've had an SLK..now Z4 only other car in the Luxury 2 seater convertible(within reasonable range) is the Boxster.

i go through cars faster than my underwear... LoL just about so I just want to try out everything :)

03's will have a glass rear window. Pre 03 they were plastic. There may be other trim/minor year changes, but this one is always pointed out as a "big" change.

While a Boxster can be luxuriously equipped, it IS a sports car at heart. The other two (SLK and Z4)? not so much ;)

from my experience, the SLK had a really long gearing for like old people driving and the Z has really short gearing and tight suspension to make it feel sporty for sure.

I haven't driven a boxster yet...

Another significant difference between 02 and 03 is the body styling. The 02 has a rounded front and rear while the 03 has aero lines in the front and back (not sure if it's clear what I mean). I prefered the 02 and older style to the 03 style.

I also believe that the interior color scheme changes (if you get gray or tan interior). The steering wheel is black on the 02's but color consistent on the 03' (gray interiors have gray steering wheels, shift boots, etc.).

Finally, I think the wheels change from the turbo style of the 02 and older to a different style for the 03's.

Look on Ebay and you can see the differences.

Buying a Boxster

Mike's link is a good one. I also put some buyer's tips together (see links in my signature).

However, before you start learning about the problems associated with boxsters, you should go out and drive a model year in the price range you can afford to see if you like it more than your BMW.

Now I think you'll love the mid-engine configuration far more than your car, but who knows? All this research may be for naught.

If I were you, I'd be looking at 2005 or newer S's... there's a bunch for sale now that the 07 S has a 3.4 in it.

thanks for the link

I am not made of money LoL I wish i was

so 02~03 would be my best bet... but seems like 03 is the better of the two :)

i haven't driven any of the cars I bought...i just bought it and learn to like it lol seem to work well
