				 Getting Pop-pop-popular!

Seems like the old times of days between posts are behind us - just checked in today after 3 days away and was swamped with posts! So much stuff to read, I can't sneak it in during a 5 minute slot in my workday anymore... this is cool! Welcome to the new members and thanks for the knowledge sharing by all...

the days come and go. I have been using this board for a little while and sometimes it has a heartbeat and other times its dead. Bottom line is we would all rather be out driving our cars then sitting here typing all the time

The site's name was changed a long time ago, from what I know about it, due to a knock on the door from Porsche legal. We also had to remove the Boxster script and Porsche badge we had up at the time. Kinda lame, but you know how that legal BS goes.

The PPBB badge is a modified version as you know. I find it pretty ugly myself.
Why they can use Porsche in the name, well I don't know.

They don't own the name "Boxster" but you cannot have the word in the site name if the content of the site is Porsche related.

Probably because more people are getting either banned or fed up with PPBB's cliquey atmosphere (why are some peoples' thread deleted where other peoples' thread on the same subject are left alone?).

Porsche does own the Boxster name. Back in 1998 they went after about 30 sites using the name - my friend had myboxster.com in 1998 and changed it. The UK board that started about 2 years was Boxster.net and now it is Boxa.net. But Porsche can do nothing about 986.
They do this, so they say, or it can become a generic term like xerox - a name IBM can no longer protect.

Scotch tape, scotch brite, post-it's, zip lock bags, band aid, etc. All are actually name brands but we call them that regardless of the brand.

That is why IBM lost the name xerox many years ago.
