Unhappy Parting out my Porsche Boxster :(

Well, I wrecked my boxster :ah: I spun out and hit the rear passenger side onto a light pole and broke the wheel clean off. I figure I take this opportunity to practice the ancient arts of becoming a Porsche technician.

The engine still cranks so that's good, but what other parts have good resale value other than the transmission?

Sorry to hear, sounds like you are ok though? That's the most important part! If you are going to part it out, do you have the black mesh windscreen deflectors? I have the clear windscreen between the rollbars but not the mesh ones.

How did you spin out? Dry weather? What tires are you on? I spun this car when I first bought it pulling out of a parking space to make a hard left in the rain. That was weird and I never came close to losing the car again. I was a fairly experienced driver at that point though having done a few seasons of autocross in a previous car.

Do you have the cigarette lighter? I don't smoke but my car is missing it and I'd like to fill this hole in the dash! Also need the small plastic L-shaped deflector piece (and screws) that is located immediately in front of the front wheel well. Thanks!

Actually that cover over the cats that looks like a large dust pan. I need to replace that. Ripped it half way off speeding into a giant puddle in the dark. it was pouring. Then a homeless guy appeared out of nowhere with a floor jack and pryed it off while I was still in the car waving him off! Gave him $20 and went on my way.

That really is unfortunate, but glad you're ok.

Aside from big obvious things like the engine and trans, just about anything on the car that wasn't damaged is valuable and you can sell it. Even if little things for for $20 and $30, overall you'll make yourself a decent amount of money when you add it all up selling off the parts if that is what you decide to do.

Airbags will be a big ticket item too if they did not deploy.

Seats, if in good condition, seem to be a big ticket item.
Uhh, if you have amber-free headlights they are also worth some big money.

What else is worth money? Hmm.... Wheels? Actually I'm looking to replace my 18" front right turbo twist if you still have one :P

Haha well glad you're alright. Post some pictures and people will pick it apart for you

I need a couple brackets off the right front near the bumper, and id also be in the market for clear sidemarkers and non-amber headlights if you have them!

Sorry to hear that Boxcutter! Did you fix the a/c before that happened? Good luck on your search for another one.

Sorry to hear about your mishap, I can relate. I am still paying (and will continue to for 3 1/2 years) for a Porsche that I wrecked back in 2010.

If you are serious about selling parts off of the car, you may want to post up what you are willing to part with. I did that and made some money off of the car. The wheels can bring in some money as well as the spare if you had one. Those are items I sold as well as the 'carcass' to help pay off some bills.

Did you hit another pole this year, or was this the accident you were in last year?:

You sound like that guy "Jerry Newman" in the State Farm commercials.

Glad you're not injured.
